From season to season.

Have you ever taken a walk in early Spring and noticed the bareness of the plants and trees? The trees are reaching for the sky, the landscape looks bare and unfinished, no bright colors.
As we did just this, I was thinking about marriage. How there are “seasons”. There are new beginnings. The exciting years. Milestones along the way. Times where it seems bright colors are everywhere.
But then there are times when everything is bare and looks unfinished. You cannot really see what is ahead because of the dreariness. I think in those times it is important to remember that the trees are only bare, not dead. They are waiting.
That season in your marriage may be the same. Just as I know the trees will turn green and plants will thrive, so can your marriage. There is still life, growth, and possibility. As the trees turn colors, your marriage has hope.
As we head into fall and those bare trees have bloomed and will soon again be changing colors, I encourage you to take a look at your marriage. What season is it in? Is it still in that early spring stage or has it bloomed and in the colorful stage? What can you do to keep it alive in the winter season so that new growth comes easily next Spring?
